We booked (2 couples) a private 5-day tour of Romania after our Viking River cruise and it was an amazing adventure. Our tour guide, Nick Zavada, was not available for our day tour of Bucharest so his brother, Gelu, picked us up at the JW Marriott for a wonderful tour of the city. Viking had given us a tour the day before and this tour was so much more thorough and delightful. The 6 passenger van was very roomy for us and very comfortable. The next day, Nick picked us up and took us to a market where the locals shop and we were the only tourists there. We could have spent hours there but it was off to Sinaia for a Peles Castle tour and lunch. Nick walked us through the castle for a private tour and we had an amazing time. Then it was off to Brasov for a walking tour of this medieval city and we settled into a charming hotel for the night. None of us are early risers so our departure times for the entire trip was no earlier than 09:30 which we all appreciated. Today we are off to Bran Castle, also known as Dracula's castle. We ran into our Viking River cruise fellow passengers today and we are so glad to have a private guide through the castle. It was a memorable day. Afterwards we stopped at Viscri Village for lunch at a private residence; it was so nice to be able to speak to local Romanians. We were off to Sighisoara, the best preserved Medieval city in Romania. Nick took us for a walk through the old town and we saw the house where Vlad the Impaler (Dracula) was born. Another charming hotel for the night. It kept getting better, we departed for Biertan, a UNESCO city, and toured a fortified church. Nick suggested a wine tour for the afternoon, so we had a tour and a tasting in their castle and we felt like royalty. Then it was off to Sibiu, another medieval town, and a small charming hotel. The next morning Nick gave us a walking tour of his favorite city and it was delightful. We reluctantly left Sibiu but Nick checked to see if the Transfagarasan highway had opened and we were lucky to take this beautiful road back to Bucharest through the Carpathian Mountains. It was a gorgeous drive, along the way, we took the gondola to the top of the mountain and Nick picked us up at the top. We stopped at a beautiful waterfall, saw 13 bears during out drive down, had a terrific lunch and arrived at our airport hotel in Bucharest in time for dinner. Romania Tours booked 4 star hotels for us, chose a terrific itinerary and a great tour guide in Nick Zavada, we could have not asked for a better tour.

Read MoreBogdan is the best guide ever! It felt like a good friend showed us his home country! Bogdan knows all the secrets and beauty of Romania. The tour was perfect, even better than expected. We thought we would be in a group but it was a private tour just for us! We had a blast, from sightseeing in medieval cities, to watching bears, driving on transfaragasan road and an epic Halloween party at Brans Castle - amazing’
Read MoreOur road trip was hands down the best part of our trip to Romania. Very well organized, and Marcel, our guide, was excellent, very knowledgeable on just about everything Romanian, it was a delight talking to him. The scenery was just absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking throughout. We've also had some bear sightings as well, which was the cherry on the cake. Highly recommended both the road trip and the company.
Read MoreWe booked a 5-day private tour of Transylvania and Bucharest with Bogdan. He picked us up at the airport, drove us throughout Transylvania, over the Transfagarasan Road, to Bucharest and on to the port of Giurgiu. Bogdan has a deep knowledge of the country and its history. We learned so much as we visited villages, castles, fortified churches and other unique parts of Romania. The hotels were all 4 and 5 star quality and in great locations. I can't say enough great things about this tour and the country of Romania. I recommend BookToursRomania for anyone visiting this part of the world.
Read MoreWe visited Romania in May, 2017. Bogdan was our guide for a tour of Transylvania. We had a wonderful time. Bogdan was knowledgeable, accommodating & diligent. It was less like a tour & more like a road trip with your friends (in the best possible way). We'd highly recommend Bogdan & his company. We hope that we'll be able to visit Romania again & would definitely utilize his services.
Read MoreI was working in Bucharest for an extended period of time and decided one day to get out of the city with a friend and go explore the local countryside. We knew we wanted a private tour to make the most of our time and were not disappointed! Bogdan picked us up and came totally prepared with drinks and a full array of snacks for the day! He took us to the castles Peles/Bran... explained Transylvania in detail, we went through villages and back roads (seeing things we never would have seen) and then the highlight We did an early dinner at the first guesthouse in Romania where the owners came to greet us and show us around. Stunning views and an unforgettable experience! Incredibly knowledgeable but in an interesting way! I wouldn't hesitate to go again and in fact am planning another trip with Bogdan to a different part of this beautiful, unspoiled country.
Read MoreTerrific 4 day tour of Transylvania, with some great overnight stops. I was amazed at just how much we managed to pack in. With a start at Bucharest, we headed north stopping first at Sinaia for Peles Castle and then onto Bran Castle, with overnight accommodation at a guesthouse in Magura. Day two and we took in Brasov and Viscri (a fortified Saxon church) before stopping at a very centrally located hotel in Sighisoara. Day 3 took in Biertan and Axente Sever, both fortified churches, before reaching Sibiu. Finally Day 4 involved a drive back to Bucharest via the infamous Transfagarasan Highway which crosses the Carpathians at close to 7000ft above Sea level - fantastic views and an amazing drive. Clarkson of 'Top Gear' fame described it as the greatest driving road in the world ! Bogdan has an encyclopedic knowledge of Romanian history, a great knack for finding the best sites for photos, and was a very safe driver. The organisation and the stops were excellent. His enthusiasm for his country's rich culture and history shone through at ever turn. My advice would be to take a 4 day tour if time permits. Quite a bit of climbing of narrow towers, so to get the most from the tour, it would be worth being reasonably fit. Would not hesitate to recommend the tour to anyone with an interest in Romania
Read MoreI have been deployed for 5 months and my girlfriend, Jenn, and I decided to visit Romania. A friend of hers spent her honeymoon here with Bogdan Savulescu as their guide. We decided to do the same and I can't say enough about our experience! Bogdan is above all else a professional, with a passion for his trade and for his amazing country. At every site we visited (and often along the road between), he told us great stories and related facts of history without notes! I was curious about the Dracula legend (of course!) and he explained how the actual historical figure, Vlad Dracul, became the icon of Bran Stoker's horror classic. I found his depth of knowledge to be fascinating and entertaining. Seriously, all of you who read this, if you plan to visit this exceptional country, hire this equally exceptional person to guide you! You will not regret it. Romania is rich in heritage and, for the moment, is an incredible bargain. Four- and five-star hotels are affordable to most travelers, along with elegant dining. Jenn and I had several three-course dinners with wine and desert for around $100 total. That's the norm - sometimes they were less. And the regional food is an adventure. Try it all!
Read MoreWe can highly recommend using Bogdan as your guide. In June we put him on the spot asking him to organise a 6 day tour of Romania in just 24 hours, which he did brilliantly. This tour covered the highlights and as Bogdan picked up on our interests, these were incorporated into the tour, as well as adding other points of interest which broadened our Romanian experience. Bogdan was always polite, punctual, reliable and a wealth of knowledge evidencing his passion for his country and a great driver (not once did I reach for the brake). We would love to come back to Romania and would travel with him again.
